Hein van de Geyn - Documentaire (1996) | Prins Bernhard Fonds Muziekprijs

Documentary about Dutch jazz bassist and composer Hein van de Geyn, made after he received the Prins Bernhard Fonds Music Prize in October 1996. Van de Geyn (1956, Schijndel) is one of the most accomplished Dutch bass players of his generation. After winning the soloist prize at the Laren Jazz Festival in 1977, he studied at the conservatories of Tilburg and Rotterdam before moving to the United States in 1980. He has played with some of the biggest names in jazz including Toots Thielemans, Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Tal Farlow and Dee Dee Bridgewater. In 1998 he won a North Sea Jazz Award. Van de Geyn served as artistic manager of the Rotterdam Jazz Academy (Codarts) and founded the Challenge Jazz record label in 2005.
