4 Kids From Our 9U Team Play College Baseball | (You Would’ve Guessed Wrong)

Four players from our 9U baseball team are now playing college baseball — and none of them followed the same development path. If you’re a baseball parent trying to predict the future at 9, 10, or 11 years old, this will recalibrate how you see youth baseball development. On that 9U AA team: Two were physically dominant cousins who played 3rd base and 1st base. One was a left-handed pitcher who couldn’t throw strikes and couldn’t hit. One was one of the smallest kids on the team with one of the worst batting averages — my son. All four are playing college baseball right now. The point isn’t that every kid ends up there.
