Amish Quakertown Pie Nana's Tips & Tricks
Ingredients and Instructions unbaked 9" pie shell (from pie crust video) For Filling: 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1 1/2 tbs. flour, 1/4 cup molasses, 1/2 egg,beaten, 1 cup hot water, 1/2 tsp. baking soda. Mix everything but the baking soda in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat,add baking soda and cool. Crumb Topping: 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup butter(cut into cubes)and !/2 cup brown sugar Place flour and sugar in processor and pulse Add cubed butter and pulse to crumbs. If no processor,use pastry blender or 2 knives Pour molasses mixture into pie shell and cover with the crumbs. Bake at 350 for 30-35 min.
