Emma Rawicz - Young Cats Konzert | WDR Big Band

As part of the “Young Cats” series, the WDR Big Band is presenting promising young jazz talents for the fourth time this year. British saxophonist Emma Rawicz released her self-produced debut album “Incantations” in 2022 at the age of 19, causing a sensation in the vibrant London jazz scene and beyond. Influenced by role models such as Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter, she is distinguished by her virtuosic and expressive playing, a distinctive, energetic sound, and complex compositions. She has demonstrated these qualities on three highly acclaimed albums for the ACT label and in numerous concerts across more than 15 countries. For the “Young Cats” concert, Emma Rawicz has arranged several of her compositions on a grand scale for the WDR Big Band, which she will also conduct. As musical guests, she brings singer Immy Churchill and guitarist David Preston from her home country. Recorded live on March 7, 2026, at the Erholungshaus Leverkusen. 00:00:00 Will Tho Thrive 00:12:29 Sluaisreadh - The Edge Of The Sea 00:23:57 Maybe So 00:34:03 Anima Rising 00:43:27 Frost 00:47:22 Ballad For A Weary Traveller 01:00:19 Rangwali 01:15:27 Imagined Idyll 01:28:20 Middle Ground David Preston, guitar Imogen Churchill, vocals WDR Big Band Emma Rawicz, conductor, composer ► For more information on the WDR Big Band, concerts, and current livestreams, visit https://bigband.wdr.de ► The WDR Big Band on Facebook: facebook.com/wdrbigband ► You can also find more concerts and interviews from the world of jazz on ARD Jazz in ARD Kultur: https://www.ardkultur.de/musik/jazz-i...
