DIY Semi Circle Macrame Wall Hanging Tutorial | Step by Step Easy Beginner Two Colour Lunar Boho

This is an easy beginners tutorial for semi circle macrame wall hangings made up of only two knots: Lark's Head Knots and Half Hitch Knots. To make this hanging, you need: 9x 2 metre 3mm cotton cord in colour 1 (Natural) 6x 1 metre 3mm cotton cord in colour 1 (Natural) 4x 1 metre 3mm cotton cord in colour 2 (Chestnut) Wooden dowel (I used 7 inch 12mm FSC dowel) Scissors or rotary cutter Optional: wire brush Or using 5mm cotton cord (see yellow hanging) 7x 2 metre 5mm cotton cord in colour 1 (Natural) 4x 1 metre 5mm cotton cord in colour 1 (Natural) 3x 1 metre 5mm cotton cord in colour 2 (Mustard) Wooden dowel Scissors or rotary cutter Optional: wire brush I have kept the lengths quoted long whilst you find your tension. Depending on how tightly you knot and your cords, the lengths may need to vary. I find that knotting this way creates neater and more uniform knots but if you find the traditional method is best for you, stick with it! I only knot mine from left to right, again because I personally find this suits me best. Play around with macrame and knots to see what works for you. You can leave the ends as they are or comb out the fringe and trim down to desired size either with scissors or with a rotary cutter. My single twist cords brush out really soft and this didn’t need straightening but you may find other types of cord do need straightening or steaming. Repeat the method as many times as you like to get your desired size! The method is identical for 5mm cord, the only difference is that it creates larger knots. Please follow the same process. On a 7 inch 12mm dowel, there are 8 rounds of 3.5mm cord or 6 rounds of 5mm cord. Let me know in the comments if you have made this and if you found it helpful.
