Bringing a 6' Zuckermann Harpsichord back to life
This time-lapse video shows all the steps to rebuild a disassembled, entry-level harpsichord, including cleaning the key frame and key bed, cleaning the keys, leveling the keys, installing the new lower guide and registers, installing the rebuilt key assembly, then giving the instrument its voice back, including cutting the jacks to the correct length, trimming excess plastic off the jacks so they'll move smoothly through the registers, voicing the quills, and setting the dampers, followed by tuning, and playing some final chords. The background music is selections from J.P. Rameau played on the finished instrument. Wrong notes are common, as I am not a professional harpsichordist, and some notes weren't properly adjusted when I made the recording, resulting in missed notes. They have since been corrected.
