METÁSTASIS, CUANDO EL CÁNCER INVADE A OTROS ÓRGANOS

Metastasis occurs when tumors spread beyond their original location, invading other parts of the body and generating secondary tumors, a characteristic that gives them the adjective malignancy. This process is one of the criteria used to diagnose cancer and is associated with a significantly increased likelihood of dying from the disease. In this article, we will describe what metastasis is and the symptoms of the four most common types: lung metastasis, bone metastasis, liver metastasis, and brain metastasis. We will also discuss other relevant characteristics, such as incidence, the relationship with certain types of cancer, and the risk of death they entail.
