Inside the box I got the handset, user manual, warranty card, data cable - travel charger was missing and am not sure if earphone is included in the box. #Sony #XperiaXZs Design, Display and OS The design is unique, build and finishing is very good. This handset has got a premium look and feel. It is IP68 certified - water and dust resistant. XZs is packed inside a metal body (Exclusive ALKALEIDO metal), with curvy sides and flat top and bottom. This is a dual SIM handset that comes with a unique easy to remove SIM slot, you don't need a ejector pin. You can either use 2x nano SIMs or 1x nano SIM + 1x micro SD card. There is LED notification and good number of sensors - accelerometer, proximity, light, magnetic, gyro, step and hall. Screen is 5.2 inches 1080p resolution using TRILUMINOS Display. Color reproduction, viewing angles and touch response are very good. Android Nougat 7.1.1 runs out of the box. Sony Xperia XZs memory and storage There is 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. You will get 52GB free space and around 2GB free RAM. Sony Xperia XZs Performance and Benchmark The XZs houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64 bit quad core processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. This is a known and a performing chipset, though outdated. Overall performance was smooth and lag free. Max battery temperature I encountered was 39 degrees. I played Modern Combat 5 and Asphalt 8 both games played very well, smooth without lags. Sony Xperia XZs Camera This handset comes with a 19MP Motion Eye camera (Sony Exmor RS)- f/2.0 aperture with flash support and front camera is a 13MP shooter. Both front and rear camera still image quality is above average, but the video recording is awesome, excellent. There are two things when it comes to Sony Xperia XZs video recording, first one is the 960fps super slow motion video and the 2nd thing is the SteadyShot™ with Intelligent Active Mode (5-axis stablization) that gives amazing smooth shots. The issue with super slow motion video recording is that you get only 3 seconds of recording time, check video review for how to do that and also check some samples I shot in Super Slow motion mode. This handset can record and play 4K videos, plus Augmented Reality option in camera is superb, there is another unique feature called predictive capture that will automatically capture events that unfold between you viewing the subject, getting ready and pressing the shutter button. Camera Rating 4.3 out of 5 Others The power button on the side doubles up as finger print sensor, it is fast and accurate. No other issues found, there is WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC. Sound is loud and clear. Reliance Jio SIM worked - VoLTE is supported. Sony Xperia XZs Battery The Sony Xperia XZs comes with a 2900 mAh non-removable battery with QC 3.0 support. It also includes stamina mode that helps get more juice out of the battery and also predict the time when the battery will likely drain based on users usage pattern. On a full charge you can expect 4 to 5 hours of non-stop moderate to heavy usage, an easy 24 hours with mixed moderate usage. Xperia XZs Battery Performance (time / battery % drop / estimated battery temperature) • Running Benchmark app – 14 minutes / 5% / 39 degree • Asphalt 8 + MC5 game play – 26 minutes / 8% / 37 degree • FHD video play back - 30 minutes / 10% / 38 degree It took me almost 3 hours to charge the battery from 0% to 100%. Do note I did not get the charger in the box and had used 5V/2A standard charger. Verdict Best smartphone for video recording, overall smooth performance, hardly heats up and battery life is decent enough.
