The OSI Model and TCP/IP: Explained
The OSI model consists of seven layers. Each layer builds on top of the other to send and transport data across networks. The act of moving data through each layer is called encapsulation. It’s called encapsulation because each layer adds a component of itself to each ‘packet’ sent through the network. And packets don’t even exist until Layer 3. It’s already complicated, isn’t it? Everything in the OSI model depends on each piece, but you begin by learning what each of the seven layers is called. CBT Nuggets trainer Knox Hutchinson introduces the OSI model, explains what each of the seven layers are and what they are called, and why you should NEVER throw away sausage pizza again.
