Pratica di Mare Airshow 2023 - Part 1 | Displays and Rare Formations | F-104, G.91, DC-6 & More!

The 2023 airshow at Pratica di Mare Air Base was one of the largest aviation events held in Italy in recent years. Located about 20 miles south of Rome, the military airbase hosted the “Manifestazione Aerea del Centenario” from June 16–18, 2023, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Italian Air Force. The event attracted aviation enthusiasts from across Europe and showcased both the history and future of Italian military aviation. The airshow was organized to honor the founding of the Italian Air Force in 1923 and to highlight a century of technological progress, national service, and international operations. Visitors experienced historical exhibits, reenactments, and aircraft displays arranged in a giant “100” anniversary layout that symbolized the evolution of the service from early biplanes to modern stealth fighters. Historic aircraft such as the F-86 Sabre, the Douglas DC-3 and a Caproni Ca-3 replica did great demonstrations. Highlights were the freshly restored FIAT G.91 and the legendary TF-104G Starfighter from Starfighters Inc. Of course, the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) had lots of aircraft to show including the KC-767A tanker, MQ-9 Reaper drone, and HH-101 Merlin helicopter. The combination of vintage aircraft, modern combat jets, immersive historical exhibits, and aerial demonstrations made the Pratica di Mare 2023 airshow a memorable tribute to one hundred years of Italian aviation excellence.
