【日本三大奇祭】ふんどし姿で護符を奪い合う「どやどや」Doyadoya Festival: Japan’s Wild Fundoshi Ritual at Shitennoji Temple

2026.1.14　大阪四天王寺 毎年1月14日、大阪・四天王寺で行われる奇祭「どやどや」。 凍てつく寒さの中、紅白のふんどし姿の若者たちが五穀豊穣を願い、札（護符）を奪い合います。 元は地元農民が東西に分かれて行った行事で、「どうや、どうや」と声を掛け合ったことが名の由来。 江戸時代から続く伝統を、今も地元高校生たちが未来へ受け継いでいます。 January 14, 2026 — Shitennoji Temple, Osaka Every year on January 14, the unique festival Doyadoya is held at Shitennoji Temple in Osaka. In the freezing cold, young men wearing red and white fundoshi loincloths fiercely compete for sacred talismans, praying for a bountiful harvest. The ritual began as a contest between local farmers divided into eastern and western teams, and its name comes from the calls of “Doya, doya” exchanged among participants.
