Jimmy Bryant and Herb Ellis

The Jimmy Bryant estate and Bryant’s son, John, offered this rare track to accompany “Jimmy Bryant: Country-Jazz Virtuoso,” in the May issue of Vintage Guitar. Recorded in the mid ‘60s, it documents Jimmy on a Fender Jazzmaster with Herb Ellis (guitar), Red Mitchell (bass) and drummer Sammy Goldstein, who hosted the session at his home studio in the Hollywood Hills. The cut is introduced by producer Scotty Turner, and in attendance was war hero/movie star Audie Murphy, a close friend of Bryant. The cut is “Faded Love,” and it showcases virtuosic Bryant licks along with compelling interplay between the guitarists.
