The Medusa by Thomas Ligotti
Good lord! Sorry for the interim. Started a new school year, new grade, giant flood, plague, existential dread, blah blah blah. Excuses excuses. I'll try to get some more up soon. Getting kind of a.....snakeish, sort of Mediterranean vibe here, ya know? Like literally, try saying "Baby birch trees" in a spooky story and make it sound good. I dare you. I just think the words "baby birch trees" should never be in a Ligotti story, but what do I know. Stunted, maybe? I really enjoyed this one, and I had actually never read it before until recently. Definitely lots of clues to pick up throughout the story, and worth a second read afterwords. Picture: Greek Gorgenion (sacred image of Medusa placed on buildings) 500 BCE
