Exploring Kyoto, Japan: Temples, Tradition & Timeless Streets

Kyoto felt like stepping into another time. From lantern-lit streets in Gion to towering bamboo forests in Arashiyama, this city slowed us down in the best way possible. In this episode, we explore Kyoto’s most iconic sights—Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari’s endless torii gates, Nara’s bowing deer, the bamboo forest in Arashiyama and peaceful temple gardens—while also diving into the Japanese street food scene, from matcha desserts — like the matcha parfait that reminded me of one of my favorite Filipino (Philippine) desserts, Halo Halo and wagyu katsu to Kyoto's kitchen at Nishiki market. Along the way, we wandered historic streets, crossed quiet rivers, and took in the contrast between ancient tradition and modern Japan. Kyoto wasn’t just a destination—it was a feeling.
