85% of lung cancers in Korea are non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC), which are small cancer cells caused by specific genetic mutations. The most common NSCLC genetic mutation in Koreans is the EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor). EGFR-mutated NSCLC is known to have a high risk of recurrence even after surgery. The risk of recurrence is particularly high within three years after lung cancer resection. Intensive, targeted therapy-based postoperative adjuvant therapy during this period reduces the recurrence rate and improves the likelihood of a complete cure.
