The spectacular Transfăgărășan Alpine Road crosses - beyond the clouds - the Fagaras Massif in the Carpathian Mountains at an altitude of 2042 m (at the entrance to the Bâlea-Capra tunnel, northern slope) having a length of 91km, being marked DN7C. It is the steepest area. In total, Transfăgărășan measures about 151 km, from Bascov, Argeș to Cârtțisoara, Sibiu. Bâlea Glacial Lake is located at an altitude of 2034 m, in the Făgăraș Massif in the Carpathian Mountains, Romania. It has an area of 46508 square meters and a depth of approximately 11.3 m.
