Atlantic Swing Festival, a Swing Station Production, is the first and biggest international swing dancing and swing music event in Portugal, with: Workshops • Parties • Live Music • International teachers, bands and DJs • Outdoor dancing • Activities "What We Dance is Life" is the theme in 2017. Jazz is a music and a dance born out of hardship and joy, structure and improvisation, self-expression and self-sacrifice, realism and idealism. Jazz music and dance looks hard and long at life and then expresses it in all its joy and beauty, ugliness and pain, because it is essentially about everything which sweeps across our paths, every human experience. We're here to celebrate that! ASF began in Porto in 2011 with local dancers and has expanded to the capital (Lisbon) and turned international, with over 300 participants from all over the world taking classes in Lindy Hop and Vintage Jazz and enjoying live music and dancing at night. ASF aims to create an environment in which the participants are the ones who create the mood of the event. We provide the framework with fabulous international teachers for many different levels of Lindy Hop, including beginners, an emphasis on solo dancing as the key to partner dancing, a Swing Lab for musicians, fun parties with great live bands and DJs and extra activities to get to know other participants and the beautiful city of Lisbon.
