AFINAL, CHAPEIROS DESCONHECEM A MULTA DE 130 MIL METICAIS: "MAS VAMOS ARRANJAR ESSE DINHEIRO ONDE?"

Finally, van drivers are unaware of the 130,000 meticais fine: "Where are we going to get that money?" Fare collectors and drivers of semi-collective passenger transport, commonly known as "chapeiros," may be sanctioned with fines that can reach 130,000 meticais in the city of Maputo. In a conversation with TV Sucesso, several chapeiros stated that they only learned about the existence of this fine through the channel's report and claim that they had never been informed about the measure by the authorities. After the content of the sanction was explained, one of the interviewees considered the fine unfair and claims that a chapeiro collects, on average, between 2,000 and 5,000 meticais per day. "Where are we going to get that money?" he questioned, stating that he doesn't know how it would be possible to pay a fine of 130,000 meticais. The statements come at a time when the Municipal Police are reinforcing measures aimed at combating illegal fare collection and indiscipline in semi-collective passenger transport. #TVSucessoDoPovo #1NaInformação #6Às9 #TVSucesso2026
