CASA DE CACOS em Contagem/MG. Uma fascinante obra de arte construída ao longo de décadas. 🇧🇷

🇧🇷 The Casa de Cacos (House of Shards) in the municipality of Contagem/MG, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, is over 60 years old and has unique curiosities and a special detail: its architecture is unique in the world. It is located on Rua Ignês Glansman, in the Bernardo Monteiro neighborhood, and the street's name is a tribute to the mother of the mastermind behind this great project, the retired geologist Carlos Luis de Almeida, popularly known as Seu Carlos. For over 30 years, he built the place, previously used as a "country house." He, who lived in Belo Horizonte, in the Carlos Prates neighborhood, would come to Contagem by train, via the Bernardo Monteiro Station, or by car to begin his audacious project, which became what it is today. He did not see the project's completion, having passed away in 1989. Between 2005 and 2021, the site was closed, requiring its complete restoration, which took about 16 months, until it was returned to the city on August 27, 2022, in celebration of the city's anniversary. Designated a historical landmark since 1991, the entire history of the site has been followed by the population of Contagem, visitors from other cities and countries, but mainly by the neighbors. To visit Casa de Cacos, people can go to the address without scheduling. For groups of more than 10 people, it is requested that they make an appointment, which can be done in person or by phone at 31 3398-3289. 👉 Casa de Cacos Address: Rua Ignês Glansman, nº 132, Bernardo Monteiro Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday (8am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm), Saturday (9am to 5pm) and Sunday (9am to 1pm).
