Opposition politician Kays Soilihi reacted strongly to the remarks of Houmed Msaïdie, advisor to the Head of State, who recently accused Anjouan residents demanding the implementation of the rotating presidency in 2029 of harboring separatist ambitions. A fervent defender of Anjouan's interests within the Union of the Comoros, Kays Soilihi rejected these accusations, believing that "demanding Beit Salam and the presidency of the Union in 2029 has nothing to do with separatism, but rather with strengthening national unity." According to him, this deadline should mark "a new dynamic," intended to place Anjouan back at the heart of the Republic and make it the economic engine of the archipelago. A historian by training, the opposition leader recalled that the very history of the Comoros proves Anjouan's commitment to national unity: "It was the sultans of Anjouan who always worked for the unification of the archipelago, and it was an Anjouanian who proclaimed the independence of the Comoros." Kays Soilihi also called on the people of Anjouan to "refuse the blackmail" of not defending their rights for fear of being accused of separatism. He warned against "the trap of secessionist tendencies," believing that "the Azalists dream of a new separatist crisis to justify their continued power." "The people of Anjouan are not guests in this house that is the Comorian nation, who should leave the table if they are poorly served," he declared. "They are the legitimate owners, capable of banging their fists on the table if necessary, and sweeping the floor clean when necessary." The opposition leader also mentioned the case of former President Ahmed Abdallah Sambi, while denouncing the current government. According to him, the current government has exacerbated the economic crisis by causing public debt to explode and precipitating the near-bankruptcy of several public companies.
