Established in 1711, this remarkable site tells over 250 years of industrial history, showcasing the evolution of iron-smelting technology right through to its closure in 1966. From towering chimneys and massive water-powered machinery to fascinating stories of the people who worked here, it's easy to see why Historic England considers it one of the country's most important industrial heritage sites.
