The Man Who STOLE The Eiffel Tower
This Mini Documentary is about the infamous con man Victor Lustig. In the roaring 20s and beyond he was one of the most famous criminals on the planet. He did everything - from pick-pocketing over counterfeiting to selling Paris' Eiffel tower. This is his life story told with a bit of humor, Great Gatsby and Art Deco. This episode was inspired by the Dollop Podcast. You should check it out on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts if you are interested in weird history topics like these. If you want to know more about Victor Lustig himself - there is a 1961 book by James Francis Johnson titled "The man who sold the Eiffel Tower". I left out a couple of stories that were about his time in Alcatraz and him supposedly having a little feud with Al Capone because I couldn't really verify the sources. Nonetheless I think his life doesn't need much more spicing up to be worthy of telling :D ------------ If you want your name to be next in the credits of ALL of my channel's videos FOREVER - hurry up and become one of my first 100 Patrons! patreon.com/howistoast TWITTER / howistoast TIKTOK / howistoast --------- Chapters 00:00 - Introduction to Victor Lustig (The Budapest Hotel Incident) 00:30 - A Coming of Age Story 01:06 - The Prohibition Era in the United States 01:24 - The Rumanian Box / Money Box Scam 02:35 - Confrontation with a Victim 03:09 - More Money Box Customers 03:46 - The Ten Commandments for Con Men 04:51 - Traveling in the 1920s 05:14 - Victor Lustig's Time in 1920s Paris 05:25 - The Eiffel Tower Heist 06:39 - Flight To The States 06:54 - A Life on The Run 07:35 - Getting Caught by Sheriff Miller 08:04 - Scamming Sheriff Miller 08:14 - Getting Caught by Sheriff Miller Again 08:25 - Scamming Sheriff Miller Again 08:35 - The Victor Lustig Unit 08:45 - Breaking Out Of Prison 09:14 - Getting Caught AGAIN 09:24 - The Trial Of Victor Lustig 09:34 - Credits 10:06 - The Black Screen Anecdote #VictorLustig #Roaring20s #ConArtist
