Karimkhan Citadel is located in the center of Shiraz. This citadel was built during the reign of Zandiye dynasty and after Karimkhan Zand chose Shiraz as his capital and this place as his place of life, it became known as Karimkhani Citadel. This building was used as the seat of government in the Zandiyeh period and as the residence of local governors in the Qajar period. During the reign of the Qajar dynasty, the citadel was used as the residence of Persian princes, and from 1310, it was used as a municipal prison.
