Walking along Xinjiekou South Street at noon in summer, you can feel the fusion of history and modernity. This street has been a prosperous place since ancient times. It was once an important passage connecting Xizhimen and the capital. Time-honored shops and traditional courtyards stand along the street, with a strong Beijing flavor. Buildings and plaques left over from the Qing Dynasty can also be seen along the street, giving people a feeling of traveling through time and space. Although the sun is scorching at noon, the shade of trees on both sides of the street and the occasional breeze bring some coolness to pedestrians. The cafes and small shops on the street are a good place to rest and relax.
