What makes Lappeenranta so special as a destination? Lappeenranta is a regional center of South Karelia and is located on the south coast of Saimaa in South Karelia province. Lappeenranta is home to Lappeenranta Port, Sandcastle, Fortress and Lake Saima. In Finland, summer is a popular time for outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, horseback riding and water sports. In summer there are many activities around Lake Saimaa. One of them are boat trips in the Saimaa Canal, hiking, but there is also a lot to see. Lappeenranta is very tourist friendly and has many attractions such as the fortress, the harbour, the sand sculptures in the harbor area, as well as churches and museums. Worth a stop there.
