The Owner Did NOT BELIEVE that this Overgrown Yard Could be Brought BACK TO LIFE
A week ago, I came to this yard to trim the overgrown hedge and thought I had the wrong address because the yard looked abandoned (unfortunately, due to camera problems, I missed the moment when the hedge was trimmed). But the owner came out and said that I was at the right address. She said that the yard was over 25 years old, but she couldn't remember when it had last been maintained. Since the hedge had grown so overgrown that it was blocking the passage of cars, she decided to find someone who could do the job. A week later, she called me again and asked if I could clear the overgrown yard, as she didn't believe the hedge could ever look nice again. When I returned, she asked me to first clear the parking lot, remove the nettles, and trim the bushes on the side of the neighboring yard. I also picked up some rocks that were lying around and put the firewood that was in a large bag into a container, but since the road was narrow, I couldn't just drive up without blocking traffic, so I had to unhook the trailer. Then I started working with a trimmer in the backyard, which was so overgrown that I couldn't even imagine that there had once been a lawn here. While mowing the grass, I found a ladder that was covered with grass and had obviously been lying there for over a year. The owner was very happy that the ladder was found, as she had been looking for it for a long time. I also found a pole for picking fruit from trees in the grass, which had also been lying there for over a year. I also discovered that there were many cut cherry tree branches among the tall nettles, so in order to mow the nettles, I had to pull out all the branches, and then I continued my work. There was a lot of trash near the wall of the house, and the owner warned me that she would order a container to take everything to the dump, so I just removed the weeds from the trash. Going deeper into the yard, where the concrete mixer was, I realized that there was nothing I could do with the mower, as there were mostly overgrown bushes there, so I used a brush cutter. In addition, near the concrete mixer, I found a clothes dryer, which I initially mistook for a bush. Then I started cleaning up and carried everything to the cart with a pitchfork. I even broke the rake, but fortunately, I had a spare. I also cut up the old branches of the cherry tree with a chainsaw and loaded them into the trailer. Then I gathered the cut grass and decided to mow the old fence, but it turned out to be completely rotten, and there was metal mesh everywhere, so I decided to remove the fence, but first I cut off all the metal mesh with a grinder. I also pulled the stakes out of the ground, but I didn't understand why they were there. At the end, the owner suggested that I pick the plums, since she wasn't going to pick them anyway. This work took me a total of about 10 hours (about 2 hours to trim the hedge). And one fully loaded trailer. Two days later, the owner wrote to me that she had now decided to seriously transform her yard and had already done a lot herself. I wished her luck and told her not to overwork herself, and also warned her to contact me for help if she needed to do any heavy work!
