INFO Folklorist and accordionist Elías Ábalos will perform this Friday, July 24, starting at 10 PM, at the Gran Peña de El Encuentro, located at San Martín 647. The musician will share an evening of folklore and popular rhythms with Fabio Gallo and his group, José Simón, Fede Arteaga, Sonido de Amor, and other guest artists. Elías Ábalos is a folklorist, singer, guitarist, and accordionist from Jujuy whose career is deeply linked to the traditions of the Puna and the Quebrada. From a young age, he performed on regional stages, and with a style that combines contemporary sounds with native rhythms such as carnavalitos, bailecitos, taquiraris, cuecas, and zambas, he has brought the identity of Jujuy to different parts of the country. He has shared experiences with renowned artists, including José Simón, Las Hermanas Simón, and Grupo Cacharpaya. In 2004, he won third prize as a solo singer at the Laborde National Malambo Festival, and in 2008, he achieved second place as director of the Sangre Jujeña ensemble.
