The couple can certainly consider themselves lucky, as their asking price for this religious artwork was far exceeded. It's hard to believe, since there's no signature from the painter, but the fact that it depicts Jesus is apparently enough. Furthermore, the oil painting dates from the late 17th century and is painted on copper. Detlef also rates the condition of the centuries-old painting as "quite good." No wonder Waldi and Wolfgang are bidding against each other in the dealers' room, even though both dealers had set a minimum price of €1,000 for this Old Master piece.
