Route 2 commenced operation on 27 March 1993 between Crystal Palace and Marylebone Station via Elder Road - Norwood Garage - Tulse Hill - Brixton - Stockwell - Vauxhall - Victoria - Hyde Park Corner - Marble Arch - Baker Street. The route was initially operated by South London Buses from their Norwood (N) garage using AEC Routemasters. The route is a renumbering of route 2B and evening and Sunday service on Route 2A. At the time, it only ran south of Norwood Garage on evenings and Sundays.
