Mumbai to Rameshwaram & Dhanushkodi Bike Ride | Day 01 Day 1: Mumbai to Dharwad (Approx. 540 km) Route: Mumbai – Pune – Satara – Kolhapur – Nipani – Dharwad Estimated Ride Time: 10–12 hours (including breaks) --- Ride Summary The journey kicks off early from Mumbai, ideally before sunrise to beat the traffic. The cool morning breeze, the sound of your engine, and the anticipation of the road ahead make for a perfect start. As you exit the city chaos and head toward Lonavala via the old Mumbai–Pune highway (since bikes are not allowed on the expressway), you’re greeted by the lush Western Ghats and winding roads. Early breakfast at a roadside dhaba near Lonavala or Pune sets the tone. Crossing Pune, the roads open up beautifully. The NH48 stretch toward Satara and Kolhapur is smooth and scenic — perfect for cruising. Along the way, you’ll see sugarcane fields, distant hills, and the changing culture of Maharashtra turning into Karnataka. By afternoon, you’ll likely stop near Kolhapur for lunch — try the famous Kolhapuri thali if you have time. After a short break, the ride continues past the Karnataka border toward Nipani and then to Dharwad.
