In this video, we take a detailed look at how to play the famous melody "Somewhere Far Away" (from the film "Seventeen Moments of Spring") in a modern bass groove style. The song was originally performed by Muslim Magomayev, and for this analysis, I've used interesting harmonic insights from Leonid Agutin's version. ▌ What's inside: 🎹 Harmony and chords: we explore an unusual sequence, using not only tonic triads but also their second inversion—sixth chords. 🎸 Pulsation and technique: we break down the groove into a sixteenth-note pulse, play on the root notes, and add triads and pentatonic elements. Continuing the analysis on BOOSTY ☝️ For beginners: I'll show you a simplified part for those just beginning to master chord playing. 🎶 For advanced players: an interesting slap groove that fits perfectly with this harmony. ▌ Interesting facts: The music for the film was written by Mikael Tariverdiev, with lyrics by Robert Rozhdestvensky. Initially, 12 songs were written for the film (one for each episode), but only two were ultimately included: "Moments" and "Song of the Distant Homeland." Finding the singer wasn't easy: many were auditioned, and Iosif Kobzon, at the director's request, sang in a way that would make him unrecognizable. ▌ The analysis continues, with sheet music and tabs available at the link in the description!
