With the right strategy, even a lot! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✒ GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE GAME: When life simulators like Sims gained popularity at the beginning of the millennium, Nintendo wanted to enter the market with its own game series, but due to its hardware limitations, it faced the difficult task of implementing time-based events. The planned Nintendo 64DD, with its real-time clock and 64MB writable floppy disk, offered a perfect opportunity to develop a contemporary life simulator. However, when it became clear that the Nintendo 64DD would be discontinued, the development team had to rethink its plans and switch to Nintendo 64 Game Paks with an additional Controller Pak that served as a memory card for the Nintendo 64. The title was finally released on April 14, 2001, initially exclusively in Japan under the name Dōbutsu no Mori (Animal Forest). It was then released as a GameCube port on December 14 of the same year. A full three years later, on September 24, 2004, it was finally localized in Europe. The superior hardware of the Nintendo GameCube allowed the game to directly access the built-in real-time clock, making in-game events possible even when the system was turned off. The real-time orientation, reflected in both the time and the calendar system, was praised as outstanding, while the audiovisual effects were criticized as outdated. The gameplay was simple: the player takes on the role of a new villager who must find his way around his new home. While there are smaller tasks and goals – such as expanding and decorating your home – the gameplay gives you a lot of freedom: you can talk to villagers, organize events, celebrate holidays, take part in fishing tournaments, or go about your daily life together. All of the game's activities are based on the real-time clock and calendar. Furthermore, 15 NES games can be acquired over the course of the game, which can be emulated from within the game and thus played in their entirety. The multiplayer mode also offered several opportunities for interaction: in one mode, four players could each build their own house in a shared village and take turns playing there. In another mode, players could visit each other's villages if a game file for the visited village was inserted into Memory Card Slot B or a second N64 controller with a second Controller Pak was connected. It was also possible to visit a special tropical island by connecting a GBA as a controller via a Game Boy Advance link cable. Localization consumed considerable resources: Not only did numerous texts have to be translated from Japanese, but events such as holidays and festivals also had to be adapted to be accessible to Western audiences. For this reason, brand-new items were also created. Nintendo of America was so creative in creating its own content that the Japanese parent company later incorporated it into the Japanese version. Animal Crossing sold 2.27 million units on the GameCube. ▪ TITLE: Animal Crossing ▪ DEVELOPER: Nintendo EAD ▪ PUBLISHER: Nintendo ▪ SYSTEM: Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube ▪ GENRE: Life Simulation ▪ OFFICIAL SITE: http://bit.ly/2sj85rF ▪ GERMAN RELEASE: September 24, 2004 ▪ METASCORE: 87% ▪ HASHTAGS: #AnimalCrossing #AC #AnimalCrossingGCN
