Yannick Neuder spent over 30 years at patients' bedsides before taking on the role of Minister of Health. A cardiologist at the Grenoble University Hospital since 1993, he was appointed Minister Delegate for Health and Access to Care on December 23, 2024. He took office at a time when 6 million French people lacked a primary care physician and 87% of the country was classified as a medical desert, a fact highlighted by the Pact to Combat Medical Deserts presented by François Bayrou in April 2025. Few officials are as familiar with both ends of the healthcare chain as he is with the diagnosis made at the patient's bedside and the final decision that impacts the health of 68 million people.
