The Private is Public: Thinking and Engaging Sociologically
In this lecture, Dr. Leviste asks: How do we define and distinguish the “private” (personal) from the “public” (social)? Is it possible to make a distinction between the two? Enrique Niño P. Leviste is an Associate Professor at the Ateneo de Manila University’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology. He earned his PhD in Sociology from the National University of Singapore and was a recipient of the Ananda Rajah Prize for best PhD thesis in sociology. He currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Philippine Culture and Editor of the Philippine Sociological Review. He has taught undergraduate and graduate sociology courses in the Philippines and Singapore, and was a volunteer social studies teacher at the Lumad Bakwit School.
