PARALLEL STRIPS: THE KIMBELL MUSEUM AND THE CLASSROOM BUILDING 3, ALICANTE
The specific theme of this video is the analysis and comparison of two buildings based on a similar formal strategy: that of parallel bands or parallel rectangles. Its generic theme is again the conception of architecture as transformation and adaptation of knowledge. The buildings are the Kimbell Art Museum, built in Fort Worth, Texas, USA (1966-72), designed by Louis Kahn, and the Classroom Building #3, at the University of Alicante, Spain (1998-2000), whose author is Javier Garcia -Solera.
