Lanterna Premium Camping Radtour Motovun / Parenzana Gravel & MTB TREK 920 4K
Hello and goodbye, Today we would like to take you on a wonderful bike tour from the Lanterna campsite in Istria near Porec into the hinterland to the medieval town of Motovun and over the Paranzana back to the sea. Today we are riding our TREK 920 bikes, which are perfect for Istria, the bikes and we would feel even better if we were loaded with bags and equipment on a longer trip, but that should not be this year, here I link you to our bike trip to Rome from last year. But we don't want to complain, we have a great family holiday in Croatia and today we want to cycle to Motovun. Well, to be honest, we missed the turnoff to Motovun - whether it was because of the scary tunnel or the altitude difference... - what do you think? Stay tuned and feel free to write something in the comments. So if you're at Lanterna campsite, for example, and you're looking for a bike tour, this might be something for you. In any case, we had a great afternoon and can only recommend a tour to Motovun. We really can, although we didn't go up at all on this tour, because we've already been up twice with mountain bikes. First we drive on the campsite grounds down to the sea past the dog area towards the north-east and leave the site through the small gate towards the harbour. Via the Mirna dam we reach the Mira, which will now accompany us for quite a while. It is Whitsun and already quite hot - if you ride here in summer, you should have enough to drink and start early if necessary. A gravel, mountain or touring bike is great for this tour. You won't get far on a road bike. As mentioned in the previous Istria video of the bike tour from Lanterna to Porec, I personally will not ride a road bike in Istria again. In my opinion, the main roads are far too dangerously narrow, cars, buses and lorries seem to race past you, annoyed by all the touries millimetres away. On the remote roads, in my experience, the roads are just too bad and also dangerous. We have been to Porec several times for training camps and I was very happy to arrive back at the starting point unscathed after racing bike rides. But maybe we just rode the wrong tours... Mountain bike and gravel tourers, on the other hand, will find fantastic conditions here! It was much darker and scarier in real life. For real. Really. Ok, we made it through the tunnel, that was the punishment for forgetting the lights at the campsite... they would have come in handy in the tunnel... but the next evil is approaching. Yes, that's right - somewhere before the tunnel we went up to Motovun - but no matter, the kids are waiting at the campsite, we don't want to go through the tunnel again and we're happy to save the metres in altitude today - we've already been up there twice and there's also ice down by the sea. Now we follow the Parenzana or TPC (Trieste-Parenzo-Canfanaro), a 123.1 km long narrow-gauge railway line that connected 33 towns in Istria from Trieste to Poreč between 1902 and 1935. Today it would run through the territory of three countries, Italy (13 km), Slovenia (32 km) and Croatia (78 km). Today, this is a wonderful cycling route. This great old bridge offers us today a super beautiful view into the Mirna Valley and the surrounding hilly landscape. It goes up and down but tends to go downhill back to the sea! Lanterna Camping, Lanterna Bike Tour, Parenzana, Motovun, Porec, Parenzana Gravel, Parenzana Lanterna, Parenzana Bike Tour, Parenzana Bike, Istria Bike Tour, Istria Gravel, Porec Gravel, Lanterna Gravel, Lanterna MTB, Lanterna Road Bike, Lanterna Bike, Croatia Gravel, The Paranzena actually leads to Porec, but we don't want to go there today. My Garmin doesn't want to connect to my mobile phone to set up a new route, so we spontaneously let the Komoot app on our mobile phone guide us back to our campsite in the bay of Lanterna. The route was fantastic, but the announcements were somehow only average to funny... Yes Amazing fits - thank you Komoot - you have led us here over a great route towards the evening sun back to Camping Lanterna! That was a great varied tour! Thanks for coming along, feel free to give us a thumbs up and a subscription! Merci and CiaoCiao - see you soon! Stop - we're not there yet - you've already done over 50km - you'll make the last ones! Don't miss the beautiful evening atmosphere at the finish!
