If you have broken the screen on your LG G2 there is some good news and some bad news. LG, like many manufacturers lately has designed yet another phone which uses a lens+digitizer+LCD which are fused together at the factory for a number of reasons. Preventing dust from getting between the layers and glare reduction are believed to be among the most important benefits of this design. This makes replacing the screen less difficult as you won't need to worry much about picking out broken pieces of glass in order to create a clean surface. When the assembly is removed it pretty much takes everything with it. The downside of course is that the cost of the replacement part is driven mainly by the LCD. Often the G2 LCD is not damaged but will still need to be replaced as it is glued to the lens/digitizer. It is possible to separate the two but this process requires special equipment and practice so if you are performing a one time repair it would not be practical to invest in said equipment and in most cases you would damage the first LCD or two that you worked on. Back to the good news. This is a repair that most people with a bit of technical skill may perform. It does have a somewhat unusual cable arrangement as you will see in the video. The trickiest part in our opinion is getting components at the bottom end to seat properly and while awkward, this can be accomplished with patience and a steady hand. An interesting thing about this phone is the way that it is held together. Unlike the previous Optimus models this phone has no bottom screw set and the back panel simply snaps into place. It can be a bit unnerving to remove since it will at some point sound like you are cracking the plastic. Of course if you do break the plastic you'll hear that as well so do be careful whenever prying on anything. It's also worth noting that once the back panel has been removed you will need to remove quite a few screws before you can remove the battery from the housing. By the way be sure to disconnect the battery as soon as possible and always make it t he last thing that you plug in. This will help to avoid shorting out anything on the logic board or elsewhere.
