K6ARK attempts SOTA activation with Pixie Transceiver
I crammed a $3.77 pixie transceiver into a mint tin from a friend's wedding, along with a mini straight key, a DK3IT TinySWR circuit, and an end-fed halfwave antenna matching circuit. I then cut 64' of light-weight wire as an antenna and threw some earbuds and a tiny battery in a pack. I took the whopping 3.5 oz station up a local mountain and attempted a Summits on the Air activation with it. Here's how it went...
