Suddenly facing the void of her perceived purposeless existence, she copes with this the way many do when they're looking for an escape: Endless scrolling through the social media video app, TubeTop. Despite concerns from her partner, Ben, Sarah's social media addiction spirals until she is fully consumed. Director's Statement: I wrote Doom Scroll during a slower period in my career. I was grappling with my own dependency on TikTok as a means to self-soothe my existential dread while feeling “unproductive”. I would end my days feeling irritated, antisocial, and depressed. It felt like social media was consuming me, so I channeled that feeling and created a story and a character where that was the reality.
