Poland and Germany are set to sign a new defense cooperation agreement today, in response to the deteriorating security environment in Europe. The deal coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Treaty on Good Neighborship. “Cooperation with Germany is crucial today,” says Andrzej Byrt, former Polish Ambassador to Germany and France, in an interview with World Talks. The agreement focuses primarily on coordinating military production in the event of a potential aggression. The former diplomat also highlighted that Polish-German cooperation has been developing for years, including through joint military structures. Despite a difficult history, Poland and Germany are now working closely together to strengthen the defense capabilities of NATO and the European Union.
