Çerkesler Mahmudiye Köyü’nde Hıdırellez Coşkusunu Yaşadı

Mahmudiye Village in Alaca district of Çorum hosted a meaningful meeting this year. Circassians living in different regions of Turkey came together in Mahmudiye within the scope of Hıdrellez Festival, moving the festivities held in May to the end of this month. Hıdırellez, which symbolizes the arrival of spring, combined with the colorful elements of Circassian culture, creating a traditional and enthusiastic atmosphere. Participants of all ages showed great interest in the event. On the day, which was accompanied by traditional clothes, Caucasian dances, local dishes and music, adults refreshed their memories, while young people kept their ancestors' heritage alive. Traditional corn soup (Natıfıps), kavurma, pilaf and dessert were served to 1,500 people who attended the event. Village Association President Hacı Bayram Tok thanked the guests for their interest. The event was attended by Kızılcahamam Public Prosecutor Burak Akguş, Çorum Deputy Mayor Lemzi Çöplü, E.Kültür Turizm manager Ömer Aslan, Kanal5 TV Ankara Representative Aydın Tufan, Culture and Tourism Provincial Directorate officials, village headmen and invitees. The officials who organized the event and the village residents stated that they intend to continue the tradition in the coming years. Mahmudiye Village Headman Muzaffer Tufan closely attended the invitees. Tufan said that they are determined to be the address of not only spring but also cultural unity and solidarity with every meeting they organize.
