Abstract Art Color Palette Challenge Using The Color Cube

Today I’m continuing to fill one of my handmade Bare Spine Beauty journals from the Bare Spine Beauty class, and I’m using color palettes from the Color Cube to guide each abstract page. For this spread, I chose one palette and switched up the dominant color on each page so I could see how the same colors behave when I give them different “lead roles.” I also taped off the shapes in different sizes to create a little extra movement and interest across the book pages. Along the way I’m layering Holbein gouache, graphite, Faber-Castell Black Collection pencils, Kuretake gold mica ink in a fine line bottle, a Pandafly white pen, and Posca pens for lots of mark making, texture, and those tiny details that make the pages come alive.
