New Bedford Fort Taber~Fort Rodman Military Museum 20th Anniversary

Join us as the Fort Taber~Fort Rodman Military Museum celebrates its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2004 with only a few photographs and a single display case, the museum now boasts separate sections and displays covering all the major conflicts, from the American Revolution to the modern-day, with all the memorabilia and mementos donated by New Bedford area veterans and their families. There is a room full of historical firearms with everything from a revolutionary era Brown Bess to a German WW2 MG42. There is a display of New Bedford area Medal of Honor recipients along with the actual Medal of Honor won by William Downey for his bravery during the Civil War. The Fort Taber~Fort Rodman Military Museum is one of the most overlooked gems in New Bedford for those interested in either local or military history.
