The southernmost island of Kagoshima Prefecture, with a population of about 5,000, is surrounded by a sea so beautiful that it is a paradise-like island that is more Okinawan than Okinawa itself. The elusive beach, Yurigahama, which usually appears only at high tides from spring to summer, miraculously landed in December.
