First, you'll need a simple grommet kit which you can get on Amazon. https://amzn.to/3WJ42Rd I bought mine for about $10 at Home Depot. The grommet kit includes the grommets and the tool to add one to your tent. Second, you'll want to unpack your tent and unfold the awning adding a grommet to each corner recessed about 4 inches. On the 10x14 model you may already have the center grommet on the edge of your awning. If you don't this video shows how to add that too. Is it necessary to add the grommets? Yes.
