Welcome to Rooted Worship at Arborlawn United Methodist Church. Here in this place and with these people, all are welcome as beloved children of God. In 1873, naturalist John Muir penned a letter to his sister with a now-famous sentiment: “The mountains are calling, and I must go.” Transition seasons often feel chaotic, but still God calls. Elijah climbs Mount Horeb exhausted and discouraged. Unable to find God in the wind, earthquake, or fire — finally, God is revealed in a gentle whisper. Transition isn’t always loud; sometimes God rebuilds in whispers. In the midst of chaotic transition, God calls us to the mountain to listen for the power of a whisper, and people of faith must go.
