The Roxy - Episode 21 (October 27, 1987)

From the producers of Channel 4's "The Tube" comes what is supposed to be ITV's answer to "Top of the Pops". It's the hottest nightclub on the telly, The Roxy! Presented by David "Kid" Jensen and Kevin Sharkey, this series used a weekly chart distributed by Satellite Media Services, produced by Capital Radio and compiled by the Media Research Information Bureau (MRIB). You could hear "Kid" count them down every Sunday afternoon from 5pm, in competition with BBC Radio 1's own chart show. Studio Performances: Then Jerico - "Muscle Deep" [#40] Was (Not Was) - "Walk the Dinosaur" (video intercut with studio performance) [#5] Black - "I'm Not Afraid" [#51] T'Pau - "China In Your Hand" [#26] Style Council - "Wanted" [#30] Rick Astley - "Whenever You Need Somebody" [#20] Videos: Bee Gees - "You Win Again" [#1] Guest: Andy McKay (ex-Roxy Music) Notes: Slightly updated opening sequence here. A video wall debuts this episode, as does a new animation and new information on the chart rundown. Saturday rebroadcast. The theme to "Full Metal Jacket" drops 14 spots to #16, just missing the top spot. Honestly, if I had a phone booth like Bill and Ted (or a TARDIS like Doctor Who), first person I'd bring into this project is Dick Clark. He was one of the most prolific and most influential producers in music television. All he'd need to do is executive consult. This episode has not been previously uploaded. Matt Churchett gave me the link to his Google Drive folder, and you can download these for offline viewing: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder...
