Is this the best small fishing boat? It is the best boat for me. Orkney Boats have been making sturdy working boats for many many years. If you're looking for a capable small fishing boat then the Orkney Coastliner 14 should be very high on your list. The boat was also known as the Orkney 440 for a few years but the current Orkney catalogue has reverted back to Coastliner. It has been in production over thirty years and that’s down to it being a cracking design that just works. I'll show you around my Coastliner and explain my rationale for purchasing the boat. Ease of towing, launching and retrieving single handed and the ability to keep the boat in a single garage are a real bonus. Despite her 14 foot length she's a very capable inshore fishing boat. As with any boat regardless of size only go out in suitable conditions which are forecast to continue to be suitable all the time you are out. Do take a look at some of my fishing videos to get an understanding of what these capable little boats can do. So far I've not caught anything that means "I'm going to need a bigger boat!"
