Bhagavad-gītā 2.11 — the difference between the body and the soul. In this lecture, Śrīla Prabhupāda explains Kṛṣṇa’s first instruction to Arjuna: a wise person does not lament for the living or the dead, because the body is temporary while the self is eternal. He shows how bodily identification is the root of illusion and why real knowledge begins with understanding, “I am not this body.” Śrīla Prabhupāda discusses the bodily concept of life, the meaning of paṇḍitaḥ, Brahman realization, and the spiritual master’s duty to correct the disciple. Drawing from Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, he emphasizes that true learning means self-realization, not polished material talk, and that one who knows ahaṁ brahmāsmi sees beyond birth, death, and bodily change.
