The answer begins long before Pentecostalism itself. To understand it, it's not enough to look at intense meetings, fervent music, or healing testimonies. It's necessary to go back to the nineteenth century, follow the threads of Methodism, and observe how various currents slowly matured. What would later be called the Third Great Awakening didn't appear out of nowhere. It was born amidst spiritual quests, debates about holiness, new forms of preaching, and a profound conviction: faith should transform all of life. But here a crucial question arises: if everyone was talking about Christ, grace, and inner renewal, why did some groups maintain traditional structures while others moved toward new, unexpected, and, for many, disconcerting expressions?
